The Effect of TMPT Program on Pre-school Children's Social Problem Solving Skills

Abstract: Purpose: Starting Thinking Training at an early age is important. However, few studies were found regarding Thinking Training programs for pre-school children and the contributions of these programs to children's social problem-solving. In this context, the TMPT Program was developed for pre-school children and the effect of the program on 5-6 year-old children's social problem-solving skills was examined. Research Methods: The data of the study were obtained from a total of 70 children, including 32 in the ex… Show more

“…In addition, curriculum explanations of field trips and arts activities include objectives related to the development of problem-solving skills. In their study, Gur and Kocak (2018) examined the effects of the thinking curriculum they created on the social problem-solving skills of 5-6-year-old children and found a statistically significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores of the experimental group and the control group. They stated that the preschool education that the control group received during the 5-month period in which the curriculum was implemented had a positive effect on the children's social problem-solving skills.…”

“…Hence, constructing scientifi c reasoning habits in problem-solving skills is needed to improve the three aspects of problem solving skills (Becerra-Labra, Gras-Marti, & Torregrosa, 2012;Wiyarsi & Çalik, 2019;Çalik & Karataş, 2019). T h i s r e s e a r c h s u g g e s t s t h a t constructing PsCT' problem-solving skills is required in order to fulfi l a successful 21 st century learning system, still the thinking training could develop problem-solving skills (Gur & Kocak, 2017). Moreover, the process in preparing preservice teachers should involve them in more number of cases in order to generate and enhance their problem-solving skills as suggested by Bars and Oral (2017).…”

“…Therefore, enhancing problem-solving skills should be emphasized in chemistry learning both in high school and teacher education. They should develop students' thinking concerning real-life activities since it was promising to promote students' problem-solving skills (Gur & Kocak, 2017).…”
