Salmonella typhi is one of the bacteria that causes typhus. The handling of typhus by bacteria generally requires the provision of antibacterial substances, namely antibiotics. Excessive and irrational use of antibiotics causes bacteria to be resistant so that over time the benefits of using antibiotics will decrease. Pare leaves are an alternative treatment for various diseases, one of which is antibacterial. The purpose of this study was to determine the ability of bitter melon leaf fractions and active compounds against Salmonella typhi bacteria with various concentrations. This study was a laboratory experimental study through in vitro. The subjects in this research were Salmonella typhi bacteria. The results of this study indicated that the concentration of ethyl acetate fraction is a strong fraction between n-hexane and water methanol fractions in inhibiting Salmonella typhi bacteria. The determination of the active compound group from the purification of the ethyl acetate fraction of forest bitter melon leaves obtained flavonoid active compounds with an Rf value of 0.1 in the eluent n-hexane: ethyl acetate (7:3). The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of ethyl acetate fraction was 125 μg/ml, while the MIC of flavonoid compounds was 62.5 μg/ml against Salmonella typhi bacteria. From the results of the equivalence test of the ethyl acetate fraction with ampicillin against Salmonella typhi bacteria, it showed that the concentration of the active fraction of ethyl acetate 1 μg/ml was equivalent to 0.007 μg/ml ampicillin, while the equivalence of flavonoid compounds was obtained 1 μg/ml concentration of active compounds equivalent to 0.011 μg/ml ampicillin.

Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae (Xoo) is one of the important diseases in rice. The key to Xoo's primary control is using disease-free or treated seeds and crop rotation. However, the relevance of using certified seeds or seedlings will be reduced if there is a combination of main pest attacks that help the entry of these pathogens into the plant, one example is the golden snail from the mollusca group. Based on several research sources, the mollusca group in marine areas is an untapped source and can be used to find new ingredients as antimicrobials. Starting from this, it can be seen that one of the important pests in rice, namely golden snails (Pomacea canaliculata), is part of the mollusca phylum which can actually be used as an antimicrobial. Given that P. canaliculata is one of the important pests in rice which is very destructive, this can be one of the advantages, namely that the pest will not return to the pest status but will also hold the status as an antimicrobial raw material used in rice plants as well. This is an innovation in itself in the field of controlling bacterial leaf blight because in addition to controlling the disease, the important pests of golden snails can be controlled. Chitosan and Antimicrobial Peptides (AMPs) were obtained by extracting golden snails using different techniques. A total of eight treatments were used in this study, namely negative control (KON), positive control (KKT), Chitosan (KT) with 3 concentrations, namely 0.2%, 0.4%, 0.6 and Antimicrobial Peptides (AA) with 3 concentrations. 1%, 3%, 5%. The method used is the paper disc diffusion method to determine the inhibitory power of Chitosan and Antimicrobial Peptides (AMPs) against pathogenic bacteria. Treatments that have an effect will be further tested using the Duncan test at the level of α = 0.05. Each chitosan and AMPs treatment at each concentration showed a different level of inhibition. The highest inhibition was seen in the AMPs treatment with a concentration of 1%. It was noted that the increase in concentration was inversely related to the inhibitory power in each treatment. The conclusion from this study is that chitosan and AMPs treatment has excellent potential as environmentally friendly antibacterials with abundant raw materials as indicated by the best treatment, namely AMPs 1%. The increasing number of new research related to environmentally friendly antibacterials will be a turning point in the world of antimicrobial development.

Daemonorops draco is a type of draco (Willd.) Blume fruit is well-known as an antiseptic, increases blood circulation, anti-microbial, anti-viral, anti-tumor, wound medicine, diarrhea, fractures, gonorrhea, mild burns, and other traditional medicines. Daemonorops draco is a type of draco (Willd.) Blume belongs to the Arecaceae family and contains alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, saponins, steroids / triterpenoids, and glycosides, among other chemical components. Chemical compounds such as flavonoid compounds, saponins, and tannins have antibacterial and antiviral properties. Simplicia features, phytochemical screening, and antibacterial activity testing of ethanol extract and fruit fractions of Daemonorops draco (Willd.) Blume are all part of this study. Organoleptic, macroscopic, and microscopic tests were performed on the simplicia, as well as water content measurement on ethanol extracts. Maceration with ethanol as the solvent was followed by fractionation with n-hexane and ethylacetate as solvents. The phytochemical screening was done on Daemonorops draco (Willd.) Blume simplicia powder, extract, and fruit fraction. The antibacterial activity of each fraction was determined by examining the zone of inhibition against different test species, including Staphylococcus aureus (ATCC 25923), Escherichia coli (ATCC 25922), and Salmonella typhi (ATCC 25923). (ATCC 6539). The water content of the simplicia was 4.65 percent, and the ethanol extract was 5.98 percent, according to the results of the characterisation. Alkaloids, flavonoids, glycosides, saponins, tannins, and steroids/triterpenoids were found in the phytochemical screening test of the ethanol extract. At a concentration of 25 mg/ml, Staphylococcus aureus had the highest antibacterial activity with an effective inhibitory diameter of 15.3 mm, Escherichia coli had the highest antibacterial activity with an effective inhibitory diameter of 14.2 mm, and Salmonella typhi had the highest antibacterial activity with an effective inhibitory diameter of 14.5 mm.
