The efficacy and safety of quinagolide in hyperprolactinemia treatment: A systematic review and meta-analysis

Abstract: PurposeThree dopamine agonists [bromocriptine, cabergoline, and quinagolide (CV)] have been used for hyperprolactinemia treatment for decades. Several studies have reviewed the efficacy and safety of bromocriptine and cabergoline. However, no systematic review or meta-analysis has discussed the efficacy and safety of CV in hyperprolactinemia and prolactinoma treatment.MethodsFive medical databases (PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, Scopus, and Cochrane Library) were searched up to 9 May 2022 to identify studies … Show more

“…When compared to placebo or basal insulin, Tirzepatide was significantly related to gallbladder or biliary disease (RR 1.97, [95% CI] 1.14 to 3.42; I2 = 0.0%, p = 0.558). However, this association was not observed with the risk of cholelithiasis, cholecystitis, or biliary disorders [29].…”

“…It also inhibits the secretion of glycogen and delays gastric emptying, which increases satiety [ 30 ]. Unlike other GLP-1 agonists, tirzepatide also targets glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) receptors, which help maintain homeostasis by addressing carbohydrate, lipid, and protein metabolic pathways [ 31 ]. Tirzepatide is a synthetic linear peptide molecule made up of 39 amino acids.…”

“…Hyperprolactinemia is an increase in the concentration of prolactin in the blood as a result of disorders in the pituitary gland [1][2] .The most common cause of hyperprolactinemia is the presence of tumors in the pituitary gland or useing of certain drugs 3 . Among the drugs that lead to an increase in the level of prolactin in the blood is metoclopramide [4][5] , which is a common drug used to increase the movement of the digestive system and empty the stomach.…”
