The Islamic world in recent years, along with the phenomenon of the Arab Spring, witnesses the strengthening of sectarianism and takfirism which has even sparked the war in parts of the region. One of the main concepts used by the takfiris was puritanism, namely the obligation to dispose of other groups who are considered to have carried out heresy. This first, the determination of heresy article argues three main theses, by the takfiris is actually a heresy. The second thesis, heresy is not merely theological discourse but an instrument in the politics of sectarianism. The third one, heresy indictment is a postcolonial tool to weaken the Islamic World. This article uses the concept of politics of sectarianism, postcolonialism, and siyasi ijtima'i interpretation of Qur’an verses with maudhu’i method.

Arab Saudi memiliki empat pilar kenegaraan, yaitu: Keluarga Saud, Paham Wahhabisme, Minyak, dan Relasi dengan Amerika Serikat (AS). Pada tahun 2017, Muhammad bin Salman (MbS) diangkat menjadi putra mahkota oleh ayahnya sendiri, Salman bin Abdulazis. Sepanjang sejarah Arab Saudi hal ini belum pernah terjadi, biasanya putra mahkota merupakan saudara laki-laki dari raja yang sedang berkuasa. Peristiwa bersejarah lainnya adalah MbS melakukan langkah-langkah untuk mengubah tiga dari empat pilar tersebut. Perubahan pilar negara merupakan sebuah tindakan yang sangat beresiko tinggi, apabila gagal, maka konsekuensi terburuknya adalah keruntuhan negara yang bersangkutan.

Over the past decades, the member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council have emerged as the leaders of the Middle East and North Africa region. They have also proved to be the safest Arab allies for the EU due to their stability and prosperity, despite being the only regimes in the region whose leaders are not elected by universal direct suffrage. In recent months, Saudi Arabia, in particular, has been anxious to re-establish its leadership in the region through disruptive structural changes. Even though it remains difficult to make sense of these reforms, many analysts have speculated about their purported future relevance. This article argues that the changes undermine the social contract that has prevailed in the kingdom for decades, whereby citizens enjoy material comfort in exchange for their loyalty to the regime. Thus these changes threaten to destabilise the country, with potential lasting effects on the region and collateral consequences for Europe.
