The accelerated evolution in computing and transmission automation of the Internet of Vehicles (IoV) has led to enormous research standards that attract many researchers and industries. This century of the Internet of Things (IoT) is propulsive to the routine vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) in the IoV. It has emerged as one of the major driving forces for innovations in the intelligent vehicular industry. The World Health Organization (WHO) report confirms that approximately 1.35 million people die because of accidents on the road every year. This requires considerable attention to incorporate more and more safety measures into the automobile industry. Intelligent transportation systems can help bridge the gap between the traditional and the intelligent automotive industry by connecting vehicle to vehicle (V2V) and vehicle to infrastructure (V2I), hence adding much safety in vehicular communication. This paper provides a comprehensive review of the Internet of Vehicles (IoV) which discusses the architectures of IoV including layer types, functions of layers, application area, and communication type supported. Further, it also provides an in-depth insight into state-of-the-art Medium Access Control (MAC) protocols and routing protocols used in IoV communication. The routing protocol comparative summarization considers important parameters which include communication types broadcast, unicast, cluster, multicast, forwarding strategy, recovery strategy, availability of map, and the type of environment urban or highway. The summarization of various protocols highlights strengths, research gaps, and application areas. Finally, the paper addresses various research challenges along with potential future enhancements for the IoV communication.

The widespread adoption of the Internet of Things (IoT) has transformed various sectors globally, making them more intelligent and connected. However, this advancement comes with challenges related to the effectiveness of IoT devices. These devices, present in offices, homes, industries, and more, need constant monitoring to ensure their proper functionality. The success of smart systems relies on their seamless operation and ability to handle faults. Sensors, crucial components of these systems, gather data and contribute to their functionality. Therefore, sensor faults can compromise the system's reliability and undermine the trustworthiness of smart environments. To address these concerns, various techniques and algorithms can be employed to enhance the performance of IoT devices through effective fault detection. This paper conducted a thorough review of the existing literature and conducted a detailed analysis. This analysis effectively links sensor errors with a prominent fault detection technique capable of addressing them. This study is innovative because it paves the way for future researchers to explore errors that have not yet been tackled by existing fault detection methods. Significant, the paper, also highlights essential factors for selecting and adopting fault detection techniques, as well as the characteristics of datasets and their corresponding recommended techniques. Additionally, the paper presents a methodical overview of fault detection techniques employed in smart devices, including the metrics used for evaluation. Furthermore, the paper examines the body of academic work related to sensor faults and fault detection techniques within the domain. This reflects the growing inclination and scholarly attention of researchers and academicians toward strategies for fault detection within the realm of the Internet of Things.

The Internet of Things (IoT) is the network of multiple devices known as "things" which includes sensors, security cameras, smart lights, smart TV, traffic lights etc. in the smart home or industrial environment. In many applications, these IoT devices are installed in open areas for example traffic lights/ security cameras in a smart city. Strong authentication and authorisation for these devices need to be deployed to ensure trust among IoT networks. IoT devices produce and forward security-sensitive data and hence confidentiality, authentication and proper authorisation should be the primary priority of an IoT system. Implementing Certificate Authority-based digital certificate solutions is costly because of the number of devices involved in IoT networks. Blockchain is a decentralized ledgerbased technology which can help to provide seamless yet costeffective solutions for confidentiality, authentication, and authorisation for IoT environments. A blockchain-based system for device registration, authentication, authorisation, and data confidentiality is proposed. The paper shows the methodological and procedural details of the proposed security scheme.
