She has recently edited a special issue on 'Interest Politics in Central and Eastern Europe' in Perspectives on European Politics and Society and coauthored Constitutional Politics in the European Union (Palgrave 2007). Her research focuses on civil society participation and interest representation in the EU and the impact of EU accession on interest politics in Central and Eastern Europe. Stijn Smismans is Reader in European Law in the School of Law at Cardiff University. He has published on European institutional questions, multi-level governance and new policy-instruments, and in particular on models of participation in European policy-making. His recent publications include Law, Legitimacy and European Governance : Functional Participation in Social Regulation (Oxford University Press) and Civil Society and Legitimate European Governance (Edward Elgar). He has also acted as advisor to the European Economic and Social Committee and to the European Foundation for Living and Working.
