The expression of miRNA‐146a‐5p and its mechanism of treating dry eye syndrome

Abstract: Objective Dry eye syndrome in which tear fluid quality or abnormality, or kinetic abnormality is caused by various reasons, resulting in decreased tear film stability. In recent years, more and more results from the studies indicate that miRNA alterations are involved in dry eye syndrome. And miRNA‐146a‐5p is a key regulator to regulate the inflammatory response. In this paper, we demonstrated whether miRNA‐146a‐5p could cure dry eye syndrome by regulating target genes based on network analysis. Methods In cur… Show more

“…MiR-146a plays a key role in the regulation of innate immunity and inflammation 11 14 . There was no significant difference in the expression of miR-146a in the blood of patients with dry eye disease and healthy people 36 , but the expression of miR-146a in the corneas of patients with dry eye disease and healthy people is not clear. In the present study, we explored the role of miR-146a in corneal inflammation using a dry eye mouse model and HCEC inflammation model.…”

“…Moreover, miR-146a mitigates TNF-α-induced expression of IL-6, IL-8, COX2, and intercellular adhesion molecule 1 (ICAM1), suggesting that miR-146a-mediated inhibition of IRAK1 could potentially mediate the inflammatory response in DED [36]. Additionally, Yin et al [37] have shown that miRNA-146a-5p suppresses IRAK1, IL-6, TNF-α, and CBP expression, which reduces the inflammatory response in DED.…”
