Some binary RuO 2 -SnO 2 oxides coated on Ti were synthesed by the thermal decoposion method. A remarkable behaviour of pseudo-capacitance has been shown on the cyclic voltmmograms of the prepared samples. It is concluded that the poor specific capacitance has been found for both RuO 2 -enriched and SnO 2 -enriched binary oxides. The maximum specific capacitance occurs at the composition of 40 mol% SnO 2 and reaches the value of 1080Fg −1 when this electrode was annealed at the temperature of 260 • C. The addition of Sn into the binary oxide coating can help improve the electrode capacitancee and do no harm to the electro-catalytic properties.

Poorly crystalline Ru 0.4 Sn 0.6 O 2 solid solution with size about 2 nm coated on Ti substrate was prepared by thermal decomposition at 260˚C. The electrodes were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) for structural and morphological studies. The Capacitance properties of the electrodes were tested by cyclic voltammetry and charge-discharge tests. The results show that the electrodes have mud-cracks structure with cracks 0.2 µm in width. The electrode has stable electrochemical capacitor properties with a maximum specific capacitance of 648 F/g within a scan potential window -0.1 -1.0 V in 0.5 M H 2 SO 4 electrolyte solution.

We report the use of a spray pyrolysis method to synthesize high surface area (BET surface area of 139 m2 g-1) self-organized, micron sized urchin-like composites made up of reduced graphene oxide and needleshaped manganese oxide (rGO-Mn2O3-Mn 3O4). Maximum capacitances of 425 Fg-1 at 5 mV s-1 from a three electrode set up and 133 Fg-1 at a current density of 0.2 Ag-1 were recorded using an asymmetric two electrode set up with graphene as the anode. The composite material also showed a capacitance retention of 83% over 1000 cycles. We attribute this remarkable performance to the high specific surface area due to the urchin-like hollow structures and synergy between the manganese oxide and reduced graphene oxide materials within the composite. Furthermore, this synthesis technique can be exploited further in the bulk synthesis of cost effective graphene-metal oxide hybrid materials for energy storage applications. were recorded using an asymmetric two electrode set up with graphene as the anode. The composite material also showed a capacitance retention of 83% over 1000 cycles. We attribute this remarkable performance to the high specific surface area due to the urchin-like hollow structures and synergy between the manganese oxide and reduced graphene oxide materials within the composite.
