El objetivo del presente estudio fue realizar un análisis bibliométrico de la producción científica de las revistas iberoamericanas en filosofía indexadas en Scopus durante el periodo 2016-2020. Método: Para ello, se extrajeron los datos del portal SCImago Journal & Country Rank donde se utilizó la ley de Lotka para identificar las citas en relación a los autores. También, se identificaron los autores, revistas y países más significativos en cuanto a la producción científica en filosofía y la participación de mujeres en los comités editoriales de las revistas seleccionadas. Resultados: el periodo 2016 al 2020, las 38 revistas iberoamericanas seleccionadas, produjeron un total de 5.232 documentos. Las 38 revistas seleccionadas pertenecieron a los siguientes países iberoamericanos: España (17), Brasil (5), México (4), Colombia (4), Chile (3), Portugal (2), Argentina (1), Perú (1) y Venezuela (1), lo cual muestra que España cuenta con el 45% de las revistas y el 50% de la producción en la región.

The world population in 2020 is estimated to be 7.8 billion individuals [1]. The musculoskeletal (MSK) system is subject to over 150 common diseases. The illnesses caused by joint inflammatory syndromes and pain are traditionally managed by general practitioners and rheumatologists. The invalidating degenerative diseases may be treated surgically and non-surgically by orthopaedic and trauma surgeons, who also repair traumatic damages of the musculoskeletal system. Nearly one billion persons experienced a musculoskeletal disorder in 2019. The increase of musculoskeletal disorders is growing every year, faster than the world population, due to the rise of life expectancy in many regions of the globe. The median age of the world population is 30.9 years [2]. Africa has the youngest population, half being under 19.7 years of age. Europe and North America are the areas with the oldest population, with a mean age of 42 years and 25% older than 60 years. Japan has the most senior people, with a mean age of 45 years. More than half of the individuals over 65 years are affected by musculoskeletal diseases (MSD), as the joints are prone to 'wear and tear' with ageing, causing osteoarthritis (OA) and spinal pain.

Potential New Treatments for Knee OA: A Prospective Review of Registered Trials

We aimed to evaluate potential new treatments for knee osteoarthritis (OA). The National Institute of Health ClinicalTrials.gov database was searched for “Osteoarthritis, Knee”. We found 565 ongoing interventional studies with a total planned enrollment of 111,276 subjects. Ongoing studies for knee OA represent a very small fraction of the registered clinical trials, but they are over a quarter of all knee trials and over two thirds of all OA studies. The most researched topic was arthroplasty, with aspects such as implant design changes, cementless fixation, robotic guidance, pain management, and fast track recovery. Intraarticular injections focused on cell therapies with mesenchymal stem cells sourced from adipose tissue, bone marrow, or umbilical cord. We could see the introduction of the first disease modifying drugs with an impact on knee OA, as well as new procedures such as geniculate artery embolization and geniculate nerve ablation.
