“…Our results showed 8 SNPs in IGFBP-3 gene and were in accordance with the findings reported in Chinese goat (Lan et al 2007). However, we observed 6 nonsynonymous SNPs out of 8 polymorphisms detected but they reported only one nonsynonymous G→C (arg to glu) in the same analyzed fragment.…”

“…However, no polymorphism has been detected in exon 2 of IGFBP-3 gene among studied five Indian sheep breeds (Kumar et al 2006), and the results obtained in the study of exon 2 of IGFBP-3 gene were confirmed where no polymorphism was found in respect of this fragment of IGFBP-3 gene in four Egyptian sheep breeds (Hanafy & Salem 2009). Interestingly, one G→C transversion was reported in the same fragment of IGFBP-3 gene analyzed in Chinese goat (Lan et al 2007).…”

“…The full length of the IGFBP3 is 8.9 kb and it contains five encoding exons (Kim et al, 2005). Nucleotide sequences of the IGFBP3 have been determined in cattle (Haegeman et al, 1999;Maciulla et al, 1997;Shukla, 2001;Sun et al, 2002), buffaloes (Kumar et al, 2004;Padma et al, 2004), sheep (Kumar et al, 2002) and goats (Lan et al, 2007a(Lan et al, , 2007b, and association of the IGFBP3 genotypes with production traits has been reported for cattle (Choudhary et al, 2007;Sun et al, 2002). Due to the remoteness of their habitats and to socio-political and ecological factors, the gayal is one of the least studied ungulates (Mohan et al, 2007) and no such information is available for this interesting species.…”
