The impact of five long-term contrasting tillage systems on maize productivity parameters

Abstract: Maize productivity is mainly constrained by the climate, meteorological and soil conditions, and agro-technological practice. Reduced primary tillage intensity might be a method to optimize the complex interactions between these conditions. An 8-year field experiment was designed to test this. The aim of the experiment was to establish the influence of deep and shallow ploughing, chiselling, disking and no-tillage systems on parameters of maize productivity. No-tillage resulted in a significant decrease in mai… Show more

“…В Сибири потери урожая зерновых культур, особенно яровой пшеницы, составляют до 15-20 %, в годы эпифитотий -до 30-50 %, причем за последние годы наблюдается устойчивый тренд усиления инфекции [13]. Своевременное применение системных фунгицидов продлевает фотосинтетическую активность верхнего яруса листьев яровой пшеницы, продлевает вегетацию культуры до 3 суток, подавляет развитие и распространение аэрогенной инфекции, табл.…”

“…Natural factors have a significant impact on the growth and development of corn plants and the level of its productivity [4,5,6]. Thus, in the subzone of unstable moistening of the left-bank foreststeppe of Ukraine, a higher correlation was observed between climatic indicators and productivity during the critical growing season of corn [7].…”

“…However, this effort may be limited by certain problems such as environmental conditions and economic factors [32,33]. As stated by many researchers, in the conventional tillage and conservation tillage systems, the yield and quality parameters of crops are functions of the interactions of many parameters, which are difficult to predict [34][35][36]. Generally, from the review of the results of research studies conducted in this paper, it can be stated that when reducing the levels of tillage from the conventional system to conservation tillage systems (RT or NT systems) in cereals, there is a decrease in crop yield [37].…”
