Purpose This study aims to examine current research on the relationship between Operational Excellence and Healthcare 4.0 (H4.0) for healthcare organizations. Design/methodology/approach The authors have performed a systematic literature review of 102 documents published between 2011 and 2022 from the Scopus database to identify the research trends on Operational Excellence and H4.0. Through a descriptive bibliometric analysis, this study has highlighted the year-wise trend in publication, top authors, prominent sources of publications, the country-wise spread of research activities and subject area analysis. Furthermore, through content analysis, this study has identified four clusters and proposed directions for future research of each identified cluster. Findings Results reflect overall growth in this area, with a few parts of the world being underrepresented in research related to Operational Excellence and H4.0. The content analysis focused on describing challenges pertaining to healthcare industries and the role of Operational Excellence tools and H4.0 technologies in dealing with various healthcare delivery aspects. The authors concluded their analysis by proposing a theoretical framework and providing theoretical and managerial implications of the study. Originality/value To the best of the authors’ knowledge, the paper is one of the first to analyze the existing literature on the healthcare sector at the interface of Operational Excellence and H4.0 technologies. The conceptual framework and cluster-wise future research prepositions are some of the unique offerings of the study.

PurposeThe paper aims to identify and report service quality dimensions critical to distributors’ perception of the quality of services their suppliers provide (Manufactures).Design/methodology/approachThis research used unstructured interviews and focused group discussions. The authors have interviewed ten distributors and ten frontline managers of three mid-size Consumer Packaged Goods companies operating in India. Two focused group discussions were conducted involving academicians and practitioners in the service quality domain.FindingsSeven quality dimensions critical to a distributor’s service quality evaluation have been identified. Except for tangibility, all other SERVQUAL dimensions have been found relevant. Three additional dimensions, namely “Fairness,” “Accessibility” and “Image quality,” have been identified. The authors made a theoretical contribution by not only identifying the relevant dimension but also proving their context-specific definition. The authors also present managerial implications and recommendations to improve the service experience of distributors.Originality/valueThis paper investigates the distributor–manufacturer dyadic relationship from a service quality perspective for the first time. This study made a theoretical contribution by explicitly identifying service quality dimensions for a manufacturer-to-distributor (M2D) service relationship.

In recent years, the term Health 4.0 has appeared in health services and is related to the concept of Industry 4.0. The term Health 4.0 focuses on replacing traditional care in hospitals and medical clinics with home health services that are based on artificial intelligence techniques through the use of telemedicine applications that allow the monitoring of patients in a virtual environment. This term is utilized to represent digital change in the healthcare sector. Governments aim to develop the level of medical care in hospitals and clinics to ensure the provision of healthcare benefits at low costs and increase patient satisfaction. It has become vital for hospitals to grow their environment into digital environments in their services through the use of a set of computer programs based on artificial intelligence. Artificial intelligence techniques in Health 4.0 provide a set of procedures that benefit patients and healthcare workers, including early diagnosis, make inquiries into treatment, data analysis, reports on the patient's condition, and others. The primary purpose of this article is to determine the significance of Health 4.0 and AI techniques in healthcare by mentioning the most important benefits and weaknesses of using AI techniques in healthcare
