“…Internal displacement and the consequent humanitarian crises still confront humanity despite the hope that these would no longer be a problem after the Second World War. Since then, however, the global community has remained enmeshed in vicious cycles of war, displacement, and humanitarian crises (Brigido et al, 2019;GRID, 2019;Klugman, 2021;Long, 2014. Acknowledging the impact of internally displaced persons (IDPs) on global security, scholars have sought to identify the causes and remedies, pointing to various triggers for internal displacement, such as poverty (Admasu et al, 2021;Klugman, 2021), economic crises (Helgason, 2020;Owain & Maslin, 2018), natural disasters (Adeola, 2020;Martin et al, 2013;Olukolajo et al, 2014), political violence, and armed conflict (Adewale, 2016;Dirikgil, 2022;Okeke-Ihejirika et al, 2020;Proukaki, 2018).
