The Impact of Pond on Water Quality in the Čermná Stream

Abstract: Ponds form an important and integral part of our landscape. They naturally integrate the impacts of human activities in their watersheds. Great potential in the retention of nutrients, especially from printed, diffusion and small point sources is naturally hidden in ponds. [Potužák, Duras, 2014] Ponds have several important functions, not only retention one, but even to transform the quality of water, which flows throw the pond, it is mainly the ability of nutrients retention. [Potužák, Duras, 2012]. Nitrates … Show more

“…The efficiency of the wastewater treatment plants (WWTP) is not as important as the emission limits in a recipient [Prat 2012, Solvi 2005, Szkarowski 2015, Hubačíková et al 2015]. The requirement for the appropriate WWTP service is based on accomplishment of specified concentration of parameters at the outflow from the WWTP [Meirlaen 2002].…”

“…Considering the driest and wettest months, the difference in precipitation makes 52 mm. Local hydrodynamic conditions [7][8][9] that generate storm-water quantities influence the size and degree of sorting runoff effluents within and on the surface of the related streets and roads. Strom-water collection or the development of the segregated levels of runoff water in the river stream can occur over the long stretches of riverbed development.…”

“…The frequency of the failure to fully utilize the system (approximately 57% of the designed output) indicates that parameters for the water system have not been accurately determined. Although ponds are an integral part of our landscape, there is no doubt they have an effect on the quality of river water [3,8,[14][15][16].…”

“…For determining the chosen indicators, nitrate nitrogen, the samples were filtered and subsequently treated according to the HACH LANGE manual. Laboratory work mainly consisted of the precise uptake (the control sample and the sample) and subsequent adding of reagents, then mixing, keeping of given time intervals and inserting samples into the spectrophotometer according to the Hach Lange method [14].…”
