The Influence of Attitude, Subjective Norms, Perception of Self-Control And Entrepreneurship Education on Entrepreneurial Intentions

Abstract: Over the years, the field of entrepreneurship studies has become important in the world of education (Abdul, Salim, & Kamarudin, 2012). The importance of entrepreneurship can support the view that entrepreneurship has become a major factor in the progress and expansion of the social economy, because it offers more job opportunities, as well as the impact on national growth and income distribution in a country (Ali, Topping, & Tariq, 2010). “…This result means that the perceived social pressure and norms from family and friends failed to positively impact the desire of university students to be involved in green entrepreneurial practices. These results contradict what was reported by [11,42,83], who confirmed the positive impact of subjective norms on entrepreneurial intentions. Our reported results are in line with those of Autio et al [12] and Al-Jubari [13], who found the entrepreneurial intentions of graduate business students to be negatively impacted by subjective norms.…”

“…Additionally, using a SEM data analysis method, Wang et al [10] found that other different factors such as entrepreneurial self-efficacy optimism (internal factors), ecological values, and social responsibility (external factors) have a positive impact on green entrepreneurship intentions among 410 Chinese college students. On the other hand, using multiple linear regression analysis techniques, Aditya [11] found that university education failed to positively impact entrepreneurship intentions among 95 students at Jakarta State University, Indonesia. Similarly, Autio et al [12] conducted international comparisons of samples from Finland, Sweden, United States of America (USA), and the United Kingdom (UK) and found that perceived behavior control (PBC) is the most important determinant of entrepreneurial intention, while subjective norms (external) have a negative impact on entrepreneurial intentions (internal).…”

“…The IEI, which accounts for 56.5 percent of the variance in international entrepreneur intention among youth, is predicted by the variables FA ( β = 0.143, p = 0.000), FB (β = 0.332, p = 0.000), FK (β = 0.250, p = 0.000), and TA (β = 0.207, p = 0.000). The findings demonstrated a positive association between all factors and dependant variables, which is corroborated by earlier research [28][29][30][31].…”

“…Numerous studies have offered comparable proof of the beneficial influences of financial behaviour on entrepreneurial intention [29]. Although studies by Alshebami and Seraj [30] found that financial behaviour has a substantial impact on individual entrepreneurial intention, research that focused on this topic was not given enough attention.…”

“…A lot of EEU researchers have established positive learning outcomes of EEU on students (Ghina et al, 2014), some of which include increase in students' entrepreneurial potential (García-Rodríguez et al, 2016), development of entrepreneurial intention on venture creation (Gerba, 2012;Hattab, 2014;Kuttim et al, 2014;Maresch et al, 2016;Barba-Sánchez & Atienza-Sahuquillo, 2017), acquisition of entrepreneurial skills and knowledge (Kirkwood et al, 2014;Hahn, 2019), broadening of their personal development and career planning , encouraging and creating entrepreneurial interests in students (Vij & Ball, 2010), increase in their confidence and insights into the feasibility of new ventures (Kirkwood et al, 2014), influence in their level of self-efficacy (Egerová et al, 2017), and promotion of self-independence and self-reliance (Nwokolo, 2017). However, on the contrary, few other researchers found no direct positive influence of entrepreneurship education of students' entrepreneurial intention but rather on other variables like personal attitude and self-control (Samiono, 2018;Aditya, 2020). Although, EEU researches which confirmed positive impacts outweighed those with no impacts.…”
