The influence of initial deflection angle on the tribological properties of gray cast iron rings with curve distributed pits under dry sliding

Abstract: This study presents the influence of initial deflection angle (IDA) on the tribological properties of gray cast iron (GCI) rings with curve distributed pits in the radial direction (CDPRD). The thermal behavior of pits textured GCI rings with different initial deflection angles (0°, 30°, 45°, 60°, 75°) and fixed deflexional angle of adjacent pits (DAAP, 10°) were researched, through APDL programming. A pin-on-disc wear test rig was used to reveal the anti-wear performance of samples under dry sliding, at a rot… Show more

“…As shown in Figure 1(a), the groove dimensions include width of grooves (WOG, 50 mm, 100 mm and 150 mm), depth of grooves (DPOG, 7 mm, 11 mm and 15 mm) as well as groove deflection angle (GDA, 45°) (Wang et al, 2017;Sun et al, 2020). The number of grooves is 64, i.e.…”

“…Consequently, there are few publications on the tribological performance of textured REBs, and the influence of grooves on the wear behavior of CRTBs has not been reported yet (Rosenkranz et al, 2016). Therefore, based on previous works (Sun et al, 2017;Sun et al, 2020), a fiber laser marking system (PL100-30W, China) was used to process grooves on the shaft washers of 81107TN bearings (YFB, Changzhou, China) with different groove dimensions. Based on the researches of Grützmacher et al (2019aGrützmacher et al ( , 2019bGrützmacher et al ( , 2021, a vertical universal wear test rig (MMX-1A) was used to obtain their coefficients of friction (COFs) under starved lubrication.…”

“…The tribological properties of textured MRSRTs under dry wear can best reflect the wear resistance and friction-reduction ability of the texture itself. So, based on previous works, [33][34][35][36][37][38] considering its unique rollingsliding feature and separating structure, the shaft washer and rollers (with a nylon cage) of 81107TN bearing were used as samples and counterparts respectively, to research the influence of pit's dimensions on the tribological performance of MRSRTs under periodic varied load and dry wear. Their friction and wear performance as well as the influence mechanism of pits on the tribological behavior were compared and discussed.…”

“…Therefore, based on previous works [34,35], different dent patterns were textured on the shaft washers of TCRBs, which are commonly used in machines/tools, (e.g., internalcombustion engines, hydraulic impact equipment) to withstand huge axial loads, by lasermarking equipment (PL100-30W, Shenyang Sepbase, China). Dry wear is the worst work condition for all bearings.…”
