The Influence of Piperine on the Radioprotective Effect of Curcumin in Irradiated Human Lymphocytes

Abstract: İyonize radyasyon (IR) normal hücrelerde DNA hasarına neden olarak genotoksisiteye neden olur. Show more

“…It has been reported that piperine exerts a significant radioprotection in irradiated human lymphocytes expressed by a marked diminution of micronuclei number compared with irradiated non piperine-treated cells. This effect was more impressive when the lymphocytes were pretreated with both piperine and curcumin [51]. Rats given piperine before irradiation showed lesser elevation in serum TNF-α, IL-1β and IL-6 [52].…”

“…Accumulative studies have shown that CUR is imparted with radioprotective functions on the hematopoietic system, skin, lungs, hearts, eyes, brain tissue, and other organs. [63][64][65][66][67][68][69][70] Impressively, an NIR-triggered TPGS-BCNPs has been recently constructed to load and deliver curcumin to enhance its bioavailability, which has been well proven to exhibit enhanced radioprotective capability for normal tissues. In addition, the excellent performance of RSV on radioprotection inspired the scientists as well.…”

“…Lycopene inhibited atrazine-induced ROS generation and apoptosis in the B-cell zone by downregulating miR-27a-3p [213] (Table 1). Piperine (2.5 µg/mL), a black-pepper-derived alkaloid, reduced DNA damage in 1.5 Gy irradiated lymphocytes [216]. Piperine suppressed leptin-induced anti-breastcancer effects, inhibiting proliferation and migration, and inhibited breast tumor growth in obese mice by upregulating miR-181c-3p [217].…”
