The influence of ultrafiltration on red blood cell transfusion during cardiopulmonary bypass

Abstract: Background: Ultrafiltration during cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) reduces fluid overload and inflammatory mediators in open-heart surgery and is thought to reduce the risk of red blood cell (RBC) transfusion.
