The investigation of expanded polystyrene creep behaviour

Abstract: Abstract. The results obtained in long-term testing under constant compressive stress of the cut from the Slabs EPS 50/100 and EPS 150 with the density ranging from 15 to 24 kg/m 3 , which were manufactured by the same manufacturer by foaming EPS solid granules (beads) in closed volume. The creep strain of the above described specimens was used as a criterion for estimating the deformability of the EPS slabs under long-term compressive stress. It was measured using special stands EN 1606, maintaining constant s… Show more

“…The main structural types of low-rise buildings are the following structural systems: massive wall (monolith, brickwork, masonry from aerated concrete blocks or stones) with external insulation; frame system (on a metal or wooden frame), frameless system based on profiled metal sheet [12][13][14]. All information about these systems, their design features and properties, as well as information on the source materials that are elements of these systems are necessary components of information models.…”

“…The experiment was carried out according to the method developed by the National Research University of Moscow State University of civil engineering on the basis of joint research with the Vilnius Technical University named after Gedeminas (Lithuania), and the express methodology of the Higher School of Economics (GACIS) [17][18][19]. The basis of the methodology was the assessment of creep of samples of thermal insulation products.…”

“…Another, not less interesting for a builder field of NXLPE application is "floating floors" in which expanded polyethylene performs the function of both heat and sound insulation [7,8]. The resulting single insulating cloth is sealed, that is, there are no gaps or joints in it, which prevents the heat losses.…”

“…As practice shows, all these factors have a social and environmental focus. The main social factor is the creation of comfortable temperature and humidity conditions, the main environmental factor is the reduction of energy costs [5][6][7][8].…”
