The optimal design and dynamic characteristics analysis of electric actuator (EMFA) for 170kV/50kA VCB based on three-link structure

Abstract: In this paper, a new type of electrical actuator, an electromagnetic force driving actuator (EMFA), has a high performance, durability, and accuracy of its operation for high-voltage vacuum circuit breaker (HVCB) is presented. Transient analysis is performed to obtain the dynamic characteristics of the EMFA connected three-link type of free body frame. The distribution of static magnetic flux is obtained by using the finite element method (FEM). The coupled problems of electrics and mechanics, what equilibrium… Show more

“…However, these actuators consist of many parts which linked, and considered expensive, noisy and leaky. It is also inconvenient that the process of movement can't be controlled [3][4][5]. Therefore, it is necessary to study on kind of small volume, few components, simple and reliable structure.…”

“…Because of reduced numbers of components, the volume and structure of VCB is small and simple in comparison with those of the spring driven mechanism. The PMAs have the advantages such as simple structure, improved operation time, easy motion control as well as high reliability [4][5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12]. The output characteristic of PMA is very close to the load characteristics of VCB's and its dispersion of operation time is no more than 1ms, that is difficult for traditional switchgears using spring actuator or electromagnetic actuator.…”
