The Optimization Design of Short-Term High-Overload Permanent Magnet Motors Considering the Nonlinear Saturation

Abstract: Electric actuators with fast dynamic response and high torque density are widely used in aerospace and industrial applications. In this paper, the design and optimization of a short-term high-overload permanent magnet synchronous motor (STHO-PMSM) is presented. The rated working point is optimized according to the operating conditions of the motor. The effect of electromagnetic load on the extreme torque which mainly include ampoule number and the magnetic energy of the PM is researched. Due to the nonlinear s… Show more

“…It has a low numerical cost, and it is generally easy to implement but less accurate than other modelling techniques. The author of [20] shows a direct analytical model using an equivalent magnetic network where magnetic non linearities are considered paired with a mathematical model analysis (MMA) optimization algorithm. The authors concluded that there is consistency between both methods with a maximum error of 5% for torque results and up to 14.5% for results in the winding temperature model.…”

“…When analyzing the characteristics of IPMSM, the flux saturation of core and leakage flux that varies non linearly as applied load changes should be considered. Therefore, a more accurate analysis requires a finer mesh grid in the rotor bridge ribs and stator teeth areas where magnetic saturation is severe when a current is applied [17][18][19].…”

“…The performance analysis and design optimization of high-speed motors has been a continuous research hotspot in recent years, which has attracted the attention of many scholars and engineers. Motor performance can not only be optimized from the overall system level [13,14], but also focus on a specific performance [15,16]. In the literature [17], different from the general optimization at the component level, the robustness of the motor is optimized based on the six-sigma method considering manufacturing quality.…”
