The optimum dietary indispensable amino acid pattern for growing Atlantic salmon (Salmo salarL.) fry

Abstract: To determine the optimum indispensable (I) amino acid (AA) balance in Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar L.) fry, a single protocol established for the pig was adapted. The balance was calculated from the reduction in N gain after replacing about 45 % of a single IAA by a mixture of dispensable AA in isonitrogenous diets. We confirmed that the mixture of AA simulating the AA pattern of cod-meal protein and gelatine (46:3, w/w) was used with the same efficiency as cod-meal protein and gelatine. From the deletion expe… Show more

“…The protein quality of an ingredient depends on the profile of the amino acids and their availability (Rollin et al, 2003). Although the ADCCP is directly related to the digestibility of amino acids, there may be differences in ADCCP for some of them (Zhang et al, 2015 Table 3 -Apparent digestibility coefficients (ADC) for dry matter, crude protein, gross energy, and amino acid of the tested ingredients in pirarucu (Arapaima gigas)…”

“…Cysteine levels analyzed in the diets were together with methionine according to the requirement of sulfur-containing amino acids of salmon (Rollin et al, 2003), however, more cysteine was excreted in the feces.…”

“…On the other hand, the moderate use of commercial amino acids at higher feeding frequencies can diminish these negative effects, thereby minimizing the incidence of temporary excesses; maintaining the levels of amino acids and other nutrients in the blood to a more constant, compatible rate with that of protein synthesis; and improving protein utilization in specialized tissues (TANTIKITTI;MARCH, 1995;BARROSO et al, 1999;ROLLIN et al, 2003;BOMFIM, 2013).…”
