We describe three patients who presented with spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage resulting from the close association of developmental venous anomaly (DVA) and arteriovenous malformation (AVM). Angioarchitecturally, either the DVA formed the draining pathway for the AVM or they shared a common venous channel. The AVMs were treated by targeted embolization and the DVAs were carefully preserved. It is suggested that the unusual association of an AVM with the less flexible DVA was the cause of hemorrhage.

A 2-month-old infant presented with a cervical intramedullary spinal cord cavernous angioma manifesting as left hemiparesis caused by hematomyelia. Osteoplastic laminotomy of the cervical spine was carried out with subsequent microsurgical excision of the intramedullary spinal cord cavernous angioma. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed no residual tumor. At 25 months after the surgery, she presented no neurological deficit without recurrence and cervical deformity. This case of infantile intramedullary spinal cord cavernous angioma presenting with cervical hematomyelia shows osteoplastic laminotomy of the cervical spine might be helpful to prevent consequent cervical deformity in pediatric cases.

ÖZAmaç: Serebral kavernöz malformasyonlar (SKM) santral sinir sisteminde ölümcül hemorajik inmelere ve fokal nörolojik sorunlara neden olma eğilimi gösteren damarsal lezyonlardır. Bu malformasyonlar, ilgili genlerinden birisinde oluşacak fonksiyon kaybı mutasyonlarıyla ortaya çıkmakta olup; büyük çoğunlukta sporadik olmasına rağmen ailesel kalıtımla da ortaya çıktığı genetik çalışmaların sonuçlarıyla da belirtilmektedir. Gereç ve Material and Methods:The aim of the study was to determine the molecular and genetic basis of CCMs and their known roles in cells.
