The peculiarities of fatigue process zone formation of structural materials

Abstract: It is shown that with a cyclic loading in the vicinity of the stress concentrator within the static and cyclic plastic zones, a specific volume of material is gradually formedthe fatigue process zone. Its size d * determines the length of non-propagated cracks or safety defects in the material and can be a determining factor in the diagnosis of material damage. For these materials, the size d * does not depend a lot on the type and geometric characteristics of the stress concentrator. It can be determined by l… Show more

“…For the case under study, the immutability of the particle shape ( Fig. 1b) indicates that the nature of the effect on the metal matrix should be classified as non-deforming inclusions [9,17]. Considering the differences between the metal lattices and the inclusion, the formation of internal stresses from the phase hardening should contribute to the initiation of a crack at the interface.…”

“…The obtained model is fully parametric and allows us to calculate the Hertz pressures for various combinations of the characteristic gear pair values, such as the module, the teeth numbers, the pressure angle in the contact point C and the radii of the path of contact curve. The change in the characteristic gear pair values enables us to pursue further research on their influence on Hertz pressure values [9,10,12].…”

“…The practical significance of the results of studies of the mechanical system dynamics of robot manipulators mainly lies in obtaining information about the accumulation of internal damage in the material and the residual life of structural components [14,15]. Often the crucial factor in ensuring the proper accuracy of dynamic load determination is taking into account the dynamic properties of drive motors [16] or taking into account the interaction of a mechanical system of a robot with a load-bearing structure [17].…”
