The Prevalence of Diet-Induced Migraine

Abstract: Nineteen percent of about 490 patients with classical or common migraine reported that headaches can be precipitated by chocolate, 18% by cheese and 11% by citrus fruit, and a highly significant majority of these patients were sensitive to all three foods. Twenty-nine percent of the patients reported sensitivity to alcohol; again this was significantly associated with sensitivity to the three food stuffs, though a substantial number of patients were sensitive to alcohol but not foods. “…Anyhow, the figures in Table 5, the code 8.1.4 part, are heterogeneous. The figures from the English study [9,10] and the present one are probably rather far from being directly comparable. “…A influência de fatores externos e internos desencadeando crises demonstra que mais de uma estrutura cerebral esta envolvida [10][11][12] . A influência positiva do NOM sobre esses mecanismos e sobre o número de crises foi comprovada nos estudos de Caputi 9 e descartada nos estudos de Bovim 7 .…”

“…Systematic surveys of patients attending the Princess Margaret Migraine Clinic at Charing Cross Hospital have established that about 18%-19% of patients report sensitivity to cheese or chocolate, and usually to both [1]. In a more recent epidemiological survey [2] the 18% of migrainous patients sensitive to all alcoholic drinks were distinguished from a further 12% sensitive only to red wine, but not to white wine or clear spirits.…”
