The Processing Design of Jute Spun Yarn/PLA Braided Composite by Pultrusion Molding

Abstract: Prevalently, the light has been shed on the green composite from the viewpoint of environmental protection. Jute fibers are natural fibers superior due to light weight, low cost, and being environmentally friendly corresponding to the green composite materials. Meticulously, fibers of polylactic acid (PLA) thermoplastic biopolymer were used as the resin fibers. In this study, the fabrication of tubular jute spun yarn/PLA braided composite by pultrusion molding was presented. The intermediate materials were pre… Show more

“…1) technique has been found to show better improvement in composite properties during processing because the fibers are pulled under tension when they entered the die as the reinforced composites are cured. [13] Pultrusion is a continuous composite fabrication process where continuous reinforcing fibers are impregnated with thermoset matrix and are pulled through a heated die to form composite profiles [14]. It has the capabilities to run continuously with constant cross section profile with the mass production volume.…”

“…Variables such as isotropic and orthotropic materials, linear and non-linear material properties are also the essential factors. “…The pultrusion technique restricts the form of materials which can be produced using the method. Only materials with a cross-section of a consistent thickness can be formed by pultrusion (Fairuz et al, 2014;Memon & Nakai, 2013).…”
