The Government of India (GoI) has implemented New Education Policy 2020 (NEP2020) in entire academic institutions to achieve diverse objectives in the education sector of India. Private educational institutions have inappropriate infrastructure to implement this policy successfully. Higher educational institutions (HEIs) are facing numerous challenges in the pre-implementation phase of this policy due to lack of resources, financial restrictions and limited manpower. The chapter, therefore, examines the barriers and difficulties in the implementation of NEP2020 in HEIs as per the existing literature. Thereupon, it also explains the future perspectives of NEP2020 in HEIs of India. The findings of this research are useful to increase the effectiveness of this policy in HEIs of India. The NEP2020 required few modifications during its implementation phase to increase learning skills, creativity, research ability, innovative capability, entrepreneurial skills, and digital literacy employability of the students in HEIs.
