The Pruning Effect on the Storage Root Yield and Starch Content of Sweet Potato Clones Planted at Dry Land

Abstract: Sweet potato is a dual-purpose crop, which could produce both food and feed. The vine pruning prior to storage root harvesting was intended to increase the quantity and quality of fresh forage for animal feed. This study aims to evaluate whether periodic pruning can affect the storage root yield and its starch content. This experiment employed split-plot design with two factors and three replications. The first factor as main plot was vine pruning which consisted of four distinct pruning times (four times, thr… Show more

“…Water shortages can be met by irrigation from rainwater harvesting (Anshori et al, 2021a) or groundwater sources (Anshori et al, 2021b). Dryland has excellent potential for development (Indrawan et al, 2020) and proper management will support agricultural progress (Viandari et al, 2022).…”

“…Water shortages in dry land can be met by irrigation, either from rain harvesting through surface run off [5] or groundwater [6]. The potential for dry land development is very large [7], increasing rice production [8], and it will support agricultural progress if it manage properly [9]. 1168 (2023) 012007 IOP Publishing doi:10.1088/1755-1315/1168/1/012007 2 Biochar is a carbonaceous and porous solid material from a low-oxygen thermochemical process, so it can store carbon for a long time [10], can reach hundreds of years [11], can be used as fertilizer [12].…”
