The QoE Evaluation Method through the QoS-QoE Correlation Model

Abstract: Currently, the satisfaction of user is becoming one of the most important topics concerned by the service providers. So we propose the approach method for the objective QoE measurement through the QoS parameters. The measurements and provisioning of the quality of service (QoS) are generally defined in terms of network delivery capacity and resource availability, not in terms of satisfaction to the end-user. The fundamental assumption behind such traditional provisioning is that the measured quality of service… Show more

“…In [5], [6], and [7] it is evident that between these two concepts clear relationship that allows us to express the quality of the experience in terms of quality of service, which is the starting point for further studies made in order to establish a relationship or a relational model between the two. Some of these studies 894 C. Lozano-Garzon, C. Ariza-Porras, S. Rivera-Diaz, H. Riveros-Ardila, Y. Donoso have focused on the relationship can be identified for a specific service such as the IPTV [8] and [9], transmission media [10] or public Internet [11], other studies have sought to establish a generic model of relationship between them as shown in [12], [13] and [14].…”

“…The QoS (Quality of Service) can be defined as a set of attributes (or parameters), such as the response time, availability, reliability, etc., corresponding to a given web service and allowing to compare and rank services with similar functionalities (Khirman & Henriksen, 2002;AlMasri & Mahmoud, 2008;Hyun-Jong et al, 2008;Morais & Cavalli, 2012). This set of attributes is often mapped into a single value, quality score, using an appropriate computable function and the result of this function can be an integer, a rational, a (fuzzy) logic constant, etc.…”

“…In most papers, the quality of a given web service is defined as a set or a pattern of attributes/parameters of this service (Khirman & Henriksen, 2002;Al-Masri & Mahmoud, 2008;Hyun-Jong et al, 2008;Morais & Cavalli, 2012). As it is mentioned in (Hyun-Jong et al, 2008), the major attributes to define the Quality of Service (QoS) are the time delay, the package loss percentage, the service access facility (the availability), the reliability, etc.…”

“…The emodel approach was described in several publications [27], [28], [29] as a method for evaluating QoE over a wireless link using VoIP applications. Variations of the e-model implementation [30] as well as new approaches [31], [32] are investigated to evaluate QoE under QoS-aware mobility mechanisms [33]. In this paper authors focus on QoE solutions designed for wireless environments, especially WiMAX systems [19] [34].…”
