The Relation Between Pain After Using Fixed Orthodontic Appliance and Follow-Up Compliance of Patients in Kusuma Dental Care Clinic

Abstract: People’s awareness to maintain dental and oral health continues to increase, including by orthodontic treatment. However, during orthodontic treatment period, patients may have a lot of complaints and discomfort, such as pain. Cooperative patient determines the outcome of orthodontic treatment. Riskesdas 2018 menyatakan bahwa prevalensi masyarakat yang memilih jenis tindakan perawatan ortodonti pada tahun 2018 diatas rata-rata yakni sebesar 0,7% (Kusumawardhani, 2020) Hal-hal yang perlu diperhatikan dalam menjalani perawatan ortodonti antara lain kontrol rutin yang dilakukan setiap tiga minggu sekali, membersihkan karang gigi secara berkala dan penggunaan sikat gigi dengan desain khusus karena adanya peranti ortodonti di dalam mulut mempermudah terjadi timbunan sisa makanan pada gigi dan peranti ortodonti tersebut (Meiandari, 2020).
