The Rheometric Analysis of the Polymer Modifier’s Properties in the Environment of Hydrated Cement

Abstract: This paper investigates the effect of polymer modifiers (re-dispersible powder, multifunctional additives, methylhydroxyethylcellulose) on the rheological behavior of emulsions, saturated of calcium hydrosilicates to simulate a hydrating cement structure. The subjects of the study were modified emulsions which had varied concentrations of each additive and they were examined comparatively to a base emulsion. Tests were performed with a CR-rheometer (“Himpribor-1”, Tula, Russia) applying the Searle measuring pr… Show more

“…Therefore, the differences between the Hostapur and the SDS systems are probably due to the different viscosity of the pastes. Indeed, the viscosity of SDS-containing MK geopolymer slurries has been reported to be much higher than those seen with Triton X114 [ 26 ], while the use of Hostapur can improve the workability of mortars [ 53 ]. A follow-up study to evaluate the impact of the surfactant nature on the fresh-state properties (e.g., yield stress, viscosity, setting time, expansion rate) is suggested to further clarify the role of the nature of the surfactant in the pore size distribution of the metakaolin/red mud foams.…”

“…Polymer material, as a modified material, can effectively improve its bonding properties when added to cement-based materials [12]. Redispersible latex powder is a kind of high polymer powder, including vinyl acetate and ethylene copolymer powder, vinyl chloride and vinyl laurate ternary copolymer powder, and vinyl acetate and ethylene and advanced fatty acid vinyl ester ternary copolymer powder [13,14]. Yaxin Tao et al found that although the very early mechanical strength of the redispersive polymer powder was slightly reduced, due to the film formed in the limestone-based mixture, it enhanced the mechanical integrity in the hardened state, but enhanced the overall strength of the material [15].…”
