The risk ofHelicobacter pyloriinfection for adverse pregnancy outcomes: A systematic review and meta‐analysis

Abstract: Objective To estimate the current evidence regarding the association between Helicobacter pylori infection during pregnancy and adverse pregnancy outcomes. Materials and Methods A systematic literature search for relevant publications was conducted using PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, and Web of science databases through November 17th, 2018. The pooled odds ratios (ORs) with their corresponding 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were selected as the effect size. Subgroup analysis and sensitivity analysis were p… Show more

“…Overall, 3036 articles that met our search criteria were first identified from the seven databases. Sixty articles9–18 27–76 of observational studies were finally selected, covering 88 unique outcomes (figure 1). Fifty-four meta-analyses10–17 28–34 38–40 42–44 47–50 54–60 64–70 72–75 were reanalysed because they did not present all of the results of estimates (i.e.…”

Among the meta-analyses that indicated the number of cases or participants, the median number of cases was 1032 (28–96 753) and the median number of participants was 3826 (222–377 976).…”

“…Although there are some ambiguous findings, research has not been carried out to address systematically the association between H. pylori infection and micronutrients deficiency in pregnant women. Previous systematic reviews have highlighted the association between H. pylori infection and negative pregnancy outcomes 20 and the association between H. pylori infection and micronutrient deficiencies in the general population. 21 Therefore, our objective was to conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis to investigate whether H. pylori infection is linked with reduced concentration of micronutrients among pregnant women, who are highly vulnerable to infection and malnutrition.…”

“…HP'nin kronik gastrit, peptik ülser ve gastrik kanser ile ilişkisi net olarak saptanmışken, özellikle gebelik dönemindeki ekstragastrik patolojilerle korelasyonu hakkındaki literatür verisi nispeten azdır (7). Çoğunluğu kesitsel olan bu çalışmalarda, HP enfeksiyonu hiperemezis gravidarum, preeklampsi, fetal gelişme geriliği, gestasyonel diabetes mellitus (GDM), ve spontan abortusla ilişkilendirilmiştir (8)(9)(10).…”
