The aim of this study was to investigate impact perceived cognitive load could have on basic eight students’ performance in social studies. A correlational survey research design was used in the study. The population consisted of 3,957 upper basic eight students of secondary schools in Kogi east education. This study employed a sample size of 250 basic eight social studies students. Two instruments: social studies performance test and students' perceived cognitive load were used for data collection. The data collected were analyzed using regression analysis. The findings revealed that there was significant impact of cognitive load on basic eight students’ mean performance scores in social studies. There was significant impact of cognitive load on basic eight male and also female students’ mean performance scores in social studies. The study recommends among others that School authorities and administrators should make provision for activities that would lead to reduction in cognitive load in social studies among others to enhance performance.

Acehnese women's leadership is an interesting topic to discuss because of the strong Islamic law in Aceh. There have been several transformations in Acehnese women's leadership so it has become a topic of discussion and debate among the Acehnese people. This research aims to (1) describe the transformation of Acehnese leadership from a historical perspective and (2) describe the leadership of Acehnese women as a source of historical learning. This study is qualitative research with a historical method. The main source of this research is an article that contains the transformation of Acehnese women's leadership. The stages of this research are heuristics, verification or criticism, interpretation, and historiography. This study resulted in two findings. First, there have been several transformations of Acehnese women's leadership, including Laksamana Malahayati, Cut Nyak Dhien, and Cut Nyak Meutia. Second, Acehnese women's leadership as a source of historical learning includes the values of assertiveness, courage, and integrity as important points for the realization of student character. This research is a reference for teachers in fulfilling historical learning and for future researchers in conducting research about the transformation of Acehnese women's leadership.

Tingkat pemahaman peserta didik khusunya pada mata pelajaran IPS yang masih rendah dikarenakan peserta didik tidak tau keterkaitan materi yang diajarkan dengan kehidupan sehari-hari, karena bahan ajar yang digunakan belum dikaitkan dengan contoh yang kontekstual. Oleh sebab itu guru perlu memodifikasi atau menambahkan bahan ajar yang telah ada dengan bahan ajar yang berbasis kontekstual sesuai dengan budaya daerah, khususnya di Banjarmasin. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan integrasi konten pariwisata sungai dalam bahan ajar IPS pada kelas 7 Sekolah Menengah Pertama. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan kualitatif. Pengumpulan data melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi dan dokumentasi. Analisis data melalui tahap reduksi , penyajian dan penarikan kesimpulan serta terakhir diverifikasi. Hasil penelitian menjelaskan pariwisata sungai dapat dijadikan pembahasan dalam kegiatan pembelajaran untuk memberikan gambaran tentang pariwisata sungai di Banjarmasin agar kearifan budaya lokal tetap terjaga sekaligus memperkuat pemahaman peserta didik. Pariwisata sungai di Banjarmasin terbagi menjadi 3 zona diantaranya zona utara (18 Destinasi), zona barat (5 destinasi), zona selatan (12 destinasi). Pariwisata sungai Banjarmasin dapat diintegrasikan dalam materi ajar IPS Sekolah Menengah Pertama (SMP) kelas 7 antara lain : 1) Manusia , Tempat dan Lingkungan , 2) Interaksi Sosial dan Lembaga Sosial, 3) Aktivitas Manusia Dalam Memenuhi Kebutuhan, 4) Masyarakat Indonesia pada Masa Praaksara, Hindu-Budha, dan Islam.
