The role of visible and resonance radiation in the energy balance of LTE plasma in argon

Abstract: Energy losses due to radiation in an LTE arc plasma in argon are investigated in the temperature range from 5000 to 15 000 K. Calculations of the radiation transport require us to know the absorption spectra; for that purpose, free-free, bound-free and bound-bound transitions are taken into account.
