In the academic world this continuity may be most visibly seen in the continuing popularity of the pdf article as the main method of academic knowledge contribution and distribution (Owen, 2007), though pdfs may now embed more graphics, links, and other digital objects. This continuity in the face of so many new possibilities for production, form, and distribution suggests these continuing practices serve ongoing needs and structures of academic life and are not simply the nostalgic artifacts loved by dinosaurs like me.…”
