“…Although proposed since over 20 years [26], the deployment of DNSSEC can still be considered to be in its early stages [65,68]. Bearing this and efforts to further deploy HTTPS in mind [59], it is questionable if the WebPKI is going to be replaced by more promising, clean-slate architectures such as SCION in the near future [11,54]. This assumption leads to the question how to handle the risks which come along with the flawed WebPKI architecture as is?…”

“…For this purpose, the indexes proposed by Fadai et al [30] are first normalized to match the unit interval format employed in this paper. 11 Then, the combined average score for the CA's place of business can be easily calculated using the formula stated below. For some CAs, such as Thawte, the CA's certificates' country attribute (C=US) and the company's legal headquarters (South Africa) are not equal.…”

“…SCION (Scalability, Control, and Isolation on Next-Generation Networks) is the first clean-slate Internet architecture designed to fundamentally solve many security issues of today's Internet through route control, failure isolation, and explicit trust information for end-to-end communication [1][2][3]. A core concept of SCION are its isolation domains (ISDs), which organize multiple autonomous systems (ASes) into independent routing planes and substantially increase both scalability and security properties of the network: On the one hand, ISDs enable a separation of the routing protocol into an intra-ISD and an inter-ISD process, which reduces the overall complexity-similar to the separation if the Internet into ASes or a division of an AS into areas by existing intra-domain routing protocols (e.g., OSPF and IS-IS).…”

“…On the other hand, our survey reveals that a large majority of network operators (60%) is concerned about sharing network performance information such as IXP port utilization with external entities. In this regard, the goal of supporting advanced Internet routing features while protecting sensitive information is the subject of several recent studies [8,42,43,54,55,60,67,89].…”
