The Share of Agriculture in Greenhouse Gas Emissions in European Union Countries – Valuation

Abstract: Reducing greenhouse gases emissions is one of the major environmental challenges of the modern world. The European Union (EU) has set itself ambitious reduction targets. Proper monitoring of emissions and its valuation is necessary to achieve this goal. In addition, valuation (in monetary terms) will help to raise awareness of the climate change costs among society. The aim of this article is to present international comparisons within the EU covering the monitoring and valuation of aggregate emissions of sele… Show more

“…In the literature, we find many references both to the emission efficiency in various countries, determinants influencing the increase in greenhouse gas emissions, or the effects of greenhouse gas emissions in selected sectors of the economy [7][8][9][10][11][12][13][14][15], and to the policy of reducing greenhouse gas emissions [4]. The research is also aimed at monitoring and valuing aggregate emissions of selected greenhouse gases throughout the economy, as and in agriculture [16], and measurements of greenhouse gas emissions are also carried out in order to improve emission factors, identify and promote practices mitigating their effects and conduct emission policies GHG (greenhouse gas) in agriculture [17], as well as assess the impact of agriculture and energy production on the environment through CO 2 emissions [18][19][20][21]. Undoubtedly, understanding the root causes of greenhouse gas emissions in different countries is fundamental to mitigating climate change [7].…”
