“…Furthermore, the mortality difference between the two study arms in the ACCORD trial could not be accounted for by hypoglycemic episodes [27]. Not only pathophysiological effect, hypoglycemia event also related to psychological issue which may impact patients' quality of life [28,29].Therefore, to provide insight into the above issues, the present systematic review and meta-analysis of longitudinal follow-up cohorts were conducted and not restricted to diabetic patients or severe hypoglycemia as was done in a previous systematic review [14], to evaluate the comprehensive risk profiles of hypoglycemia. With knowledge of the impact of hypoglycemia, the risk profiles of these hypoglycemic patients can be more clearly delineated.…”

“…In older patients with type 2 diabetes, achieving glycaemic control is very problematic, with adverse effects such as hypoglycaemia reported to be common in such patients . The consequences of hypoglycaemia impact substantially on patients and the healthcare system: these include physical injury, psychological harm, impaired cognition, reduced quality of life, mortality, additional manpower and resource utilization, and the costs of providing emergency assistance . The majority of older type 2 diabetes patients have coexisting frailty and comorbidities such as renal and cognitive impairment, and the risk of hypoglycaemia is particularly high in these patients .…”

“…Особое внимание исследователей и клиницистов уделяется проблеме гипогликемии у пожилых пациен-тов с СД [20][21][22][23]. Истинную распространенность гипо-гликемии в пожилом возрасте трудно установить из-за различий в ее определении, к тому же в большинстве ис-следований учитывалась лишь распознанная гипоглике-мия.…”
