“…Column III: A composite of standard zonations based on Honnetal and Stockum sections. Conodonts after the zonation and sampling intervals of Voges (1959Voges ( , 1960 in the Honnetal, the Protognathodus Fauna of Ziegler (1969) at Stockum (Alberti et al 1974), and the standard siphonodellid zonation (Sandberg et al 1978). Ammonoids after the zonation and sampling intervals of Vohringer (1960) in the Honnetal and the Acutimitoceras Fauna at Stockum (Alberti et al 1974;Korn, 1984).…”

“…This peculiarity was already recognised and discussed by Vöhringer (1960: 188). His assumption that the "Stockum Fauna" is stratigraphically a little older than the assemblages from Oberrödinghausen was later confirmed by the examination of the conodonts (Ziegler 1969;Alberti et al 1974;Clausen et al 1994). The Stockum assemblage has not been recorded at Oberrödinghausen; the lowest part of the basal bed 6 at Oberrödinghausen already yielded specimens of Gattendorfia.…”

“…This includes representatives of the genera A thin (7.62 cm) rottenstone, developed between 6.40 m and 6.47 m, yields .he proetid Drevermannia moravica minuta described from the Gattendorfia Stufe (Osmolska,962). This species is followed immediately by Archegonus {Phillibole) drewerensis, the earliest record of which is from the Stockum Limestone (Alberti et al 1974), associated with specifically unidentifiable protognathodids. Beneath this horizon, greyish green micaceous slates crowded with trilobite fragments and posidoniid bivalves persist to 10.41 m. The entomozoid Maternella clathrata first appears at 6.45 m and is associated after 6.54 m with Siphonodella sulcata, Pseudopolygnathus primus, Po.…”

“…Bioturbation is not marked and the impoverished benthos in the beds indicate an environment somewhat hostile to benthic life, but by no means truly basinal. The thickness of the Gattendorfia Stufe at Chillaton (5.4 m) is intermediate in thickness between the condensed Gattendorfia Limestone of the Honne Valley (1.5 m Paproth, 1971) and the 40 m of silty slates described from Stockum (Alberti et al 1974). No close comparison can be made with the shelf limestone developments of the Lower Carboniferous where siphonodellid conodonts appear to be rare (Rhodes, Austin & Druce, 1969), for these forms dominate the Chillaton fauna.…”
