Abstract-The implementation of the Session InitiationProtocol (SIP)-based Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and multimedia over MANET is still a challenging issue. Many routing factors affect the performance of SIP signaling and the voice Quality of Service (QoS). Node mobility in MANET causes dynamic changes to route calculations, topology, hop numbers, and the connectivity status between the correspondent nodes. SIP-based VoIP depends on the caller's registration, call initiation, and call termination processes. Therefore, the SIP signaling performance has an important role for the overall QoS of SIP-based VoIP applications for both IPv4 and IPv6 MANET. Different methods have been proposed to evaluate and benchmark the performance of the SIP signaling system. However, the efficiency of these methods vary and depend on the identified performance metrics and the implementation platforms. This survey examines the implementation of the SIP signaling system for VoIP applications over MANET and highlights the available performance enhancement methods.

Abstract. As the demand increases, future networks will follow the trends of network variety and service flexibility, which requires heterogeneous type of network deployment and reliable communication method. In practice, most communication failure happens due to the bad radio link quality, i.e., high-speed users suffers a lot on the problem of radio link failure, which causes the problem of communication interrupt and radio link recovery. To make the communication more reliable, especially for the high mobility users, we propose a novel communication handoff mechanism to reduce the occurrence of service interrupt. Based on computer simulation, we find that the reliability on the service is greatly improved.

In 4G cellular system, due to the mobility, proper handoff or handover management is critical to ensure seamless migration from one cell to another cell. Besides of maintaining the connection quality during a handover process, any advanced handover algorithms which can minimize required resources for the connection are critical. When connections need to migrate between heterogeneous networks for performance and high-availability reasons, seamless vertical handoff (between different access technologies) is a necessary first step. In this paper, we try to simulate vertical handoff with a dynamic decision according to the Received Signal Strength (RSS); and we build a self-learning, self-optimization and selforganization to make the best decision by using Artificial Neural Network (ANN) and Fuzzy Junction Computation (FJC). General TermsWLAN, Cellular Network, Mobility Management and Vertical Handoff Process.
