The synthesis and characterization of monodispersed chitosan-coated Fe3O4 nanoparticles via a facile one-step solvothermal process for adsorption of bovine serum albumin

Abstract: Preparation of magnetic nanoparticles coated with chitosan (CS-coated Fe3O4 NPs) in one step by the solvothermal method in the presence of different amounts of added chitosan is reported here. The magnetic property of the obtained magnetic composite nanoparticles was confirmed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and magnetic measurements (VSM). Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) allowed the identification of spherical nanoparticles with about 150 nm in average diameter. Charac… Show more

“…confirms the physisorption and chemisorption processes occurring at the surface of the MNPs [19]. The third peak is at the range 500-750 ᵒC where the percentage of mass loss is about 4% attributed to the phase transition from magnetite to hematite [20].…”

“…[19][20][21][22][23] In preparation of Fe 3 O 4 -chitosan nanocomposites, the surface of magnetite modied with amine and hydroxyl groups on chitosan. 24 As a class of newly emerging uorescent nanomaterials, carbon quantum dots (CQDs) have offered tremendous opportunities for a wide scope of applications due to its excellent properties like good stability and solubility in water, low cost and biocompatibility. 25,26 Tremendous promise has been shown in different applications by compositing carbon quantum dots with nanoparticles.…”

“…According to Jia's approach, a one-step solvothermal method was used to prepare Fe 3 O 4 @Chi NCs with a certain level of magnetism, size and surface charge [18]. Briefly, 0.09 g of FeCl 3 , 0.06 g of chitosan, 0.60 g of sodium acetate trihydrate, and 0.10 g of polyvinylpyrrolidone were totally dissolved in 10 ml of ethylene glycol under vigorous stirring.…”
