The therapeutic effect of Nigella sativa L. seeds oil on experimentally infected rabbits with hepatic coccidiosis

Abstract: The present study was carried out to investigate the therapeutic effect of Nigella sativa seeds oil emulsion as against Eimeria stiedae experimentally infected rabbits. After isolation of local E. stiedae strain from infected gallbladders, a total of 90 local rabbits (6-8 weeks age) and body weighing (750-1000 gm) were used. They were divided into 6 groups as follow: Group: 1 uninfected and untreated (control group), Group: 2 infected (untreated) with 10,000 sporulated oocysts of E. stiedae, Group: 3 uninfecte… Show more

“…Rabbits in 10 8 and 10 7 CFU/ml groups also showed a lower number of oocysts than the positive control rabbits, which had the highest number of Eimeria oocysts per gram of feces. Similar results were observed when using probiotics on poultry (Ali et al, 2015; El-Sawah et al, 2020). The main reason for using a prophylactic treatment of MiaClost was to observe its efficiency in treating and maintaining intestinal microbiota of rabbits (Markowiak and Ślizewska, 2018) and preventing Eimeria oocysts from adhering to the intestinal wall and colonizing the caecum mucosa (Ritzi et al, 2016).…”
