The Use of Acrylic-Based Polymers in Environmental Remediation Studies

Abstract: Heavy metals are not biodegradable and tend to accumulate in living organisms. Many heavy metal ions are known to be toxic or carcinogenic. Thus, removal of these toxic heavy metals from water is of crucial importance to protect the human population and the environment. In recent years, polymeric adsorbents have received considerable interest for heavy metal removal mainly due to important technological and scientific developments such as easy synthesis at controlled dimensions with variable functional groups,… Show more

“…This is due to the fact that the metal ion in the basic medium forms gelatinous compounds that precipitate In the form of metal hydroxides, but in the acidic medium, metal ions separate from the surface of the adsorbent material, and this leads to a decrease in the value of (Q) and the reason for this decrease is the competition between hydrogen ions, which increases with the increase in acidity and metal ions in the solution, for the binding sites in polyhydroxamic acid present in the polymer and this leads to a decrease in the adsorption capacity with an increase in acidity [19] , as shown table (5,6) -fig (8,9) Measuring temperature of adsorption of Metal Ions' PHA : as shown table (9,10) the studied ion adsorption heat values before and after adding nano carbon, the temperature of adsorption (He) is calculated using the Clausius-Clapeyron equation for chemical adsorption . It is possible to measure the adsorption temperature as an equilibrium process by obtaining the value of the adsorption capacity for metallic ions at various temperature degrees, for example, (T1 and T2), and obtaining the (Ce1, C e2) for achieving the same breakage that is related to the covered surface by using the equation below [20]…”
