The Use of Bisphosphonate-Hydroxyapatite Composite in Bone Augmentation

Abstract: A good bone augmentation and regeneration depends essentially on the use of a high biomimetic hydroxyapatite, respectively of an osteoclast apoptosis promoting compound. The last one, used in oral or injectable form, leads to different gastrointestinal side effects. We suggested and studied, at non-clinical level, a composite of sodium alendronate linked on a biogene hydroxyapatite. The composite was obtained by putting an aqueous solution of alendronate into a suspension of hydroxyapatite in acetone.… Show more

“…2-4), the bands near 1037 and (988, 602) cm -1 attributed to {n as (P-O) and n s (P-O)} and {n as (P-C-P) and n s (P-C-P)} stretching vibrations, respectively, were shifted to lower wavenumber. This feature indicates the participation of P-O in H-bond formation with HA (Neamtu et al 2017;Doca et al 2020). The bands observed in 3537-3487 cm −1 region, are due to n(OH) stretching of (P-OH, C-OH groups) and hydrated water (Mir et al 2012).…”
