This study focuses on utilizing English songs as a means to enhance students' language skills and increase their motivation to learn English. The research aims to investigate the impact of song lyrics on expanding students' vocabulary. The study employs a quantitative research approach and involves one class of Seven-grade students from Yabes School, comprising 20 in the first semester of 2022-2023 academic year. The data collection instruments consist of pre-test and post-test assessments, which include fill-in-the-blank tests and multiple-choice questions. The findings reveal a significant improvement in vocabulary, as indicated by higher mean scores in the post-test (72) compared to the pre-test (45), resulting in a score increase of 27 points. This study concludes that the use of songs effectively enhances students' vocabulary acquisition by stimulating their learning process and fostering word memorization. The findings of the study indicate that the students perceived English songs as beneficial for their vocabulary learning, acquisition, and retention. The results demonstrated that the students believed that English songs had the ability to capture their interest in learning vocabulary. Furthermore, utilizing English songs assisted them in remembering the forms, meanings, and usage of the newly acquired vocabulary. The present study reports the implementation of e-learning in English language teaching during the COVID-19 pandemic at one of the private high schools in Indonesia viewed from teachers' and students' perspectives. Using a qualitative study, the data were garnered through semi-structured interviews with an English teacher, a principal who also teaches English, and students. The result reveals that both teachers and students have the same responses to e-learning practices. There were three stages in implementing e-learning: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. In terms of preparation, the English teacher designed lesson plans as a guideline for learning. In the implementation stage, the English teacher used learning materials from various sources, including textbooks, videos, articles, and other sources on the internet. On the other hand, students reported that English teaching and learning activities in e-learning classes were usually carried out through WhatsApp, Google Classroom, and Zoom meetings. Apart from the advantages of e-learning in English language teaching, some challenges in its practice include the difficulties of operating technical devices for specific teachers, the problems of controlling students during distance learning, etc. Finally, the study's findings promote integrating technology and encouraging teachers' professional development in English language teaching.

This article has explored the affixation process in the novel The Second Victory by Morris West. Affixation is a morphological process where bound morphemes or affixes are added to create diverse forms of a word. In this study, the researchers analyzed the process of affixation in the novel. This process was researched to be a source of information for readers who want to learn the process of affixation through the explanation of the base word and its affixes. This research aimed to identify the affixes and suffixes present in the novel. The researchers chose Morris West’s The Second Victory because many of Morris West’s works are set in the 40s, which makes readers feel curious about the novel. The qualitative method within analyses of existing verbal data was employed in this research. The researchers found 104 data containing 15 prefixes and 89 suffixes, with a total presentation of 100%. In this novel, the prefix that dominated was RE- which means again to indicate repetition, while the suffix that dominated was -LY which is used to form an adjective from a noun. Using novels as a medium for learning is very effective, especially for people who like to read; therefore, the results of this study can be used to easily identify prefixes and suffixes both in terms of meaning and process in literary works.
