Abstract. Personalisation, adaptation and recommendation are central features of TEL environments. In this context, information retrieval techniques are applied as part of TEL recommender systems to filter and recommend learning resources or peer learners according to user preferences and requirements. However, the suitability and scope of possible recommendations is fundamentally dependent on the quality and quantity of available data, for instance, metadata about TEL resources as well as users. On the other hand, throughout the last years, the Linked Data (LD) movement has succeeded to provide a vast body of well-interlinked and publicly accessible Web data. This in particular includes Linked Data of explicit or implicit educational nature. The potential of LD to facilitate TEL recommender systems research and practice is discussed in this paper. In particular, an overview of most relevant LD sources and techniques is provided, together with a discussion of their potential for the TEL domain in general and TEL recommender systems in particular. Results from highly related European projects are presented and discussed together with an analysis of prevailing challenges and preliminary solutions.Keywords. Στο εκπαιδευτικό πλαίσιο, τα Αποθετήρια Μαθησιακών Αντικειμένων, τα ιδρυματικά αποθετήρια και πρόσφατα οι Ανοικτοί Εκπαιδευτικοί Πόροι, φιλοξενούν συλλογές εκπαιδευτικού υλικού, που μπορεί να χρησιμοποιηθεί για διδακτικούς και ερευνητικούς σκοπούς. Αυτό το εκπαιδευτικό υλικό, συνήθως, εμπλουτίζεται από περιγραφές μεταδεδομένων και είναι διαθέσιμο στο κοινό μέσω των μηχανών αναζήτησης. Οι αναδυόμενες Web 3.0 εφαρμογές απαιτούν σημασιολογική γνώση αυτών των πόρων, προκειμένου να συμμετάσχουν στις υποδομές των Συνδεδεμένων Δεδομένων, όπου η εννοιολογική αναζήτηση επιτυγχάνεται αυτομάτως από πράκτορες λογισμικού. Ο σκοπός αυτής της εργασίας είναι η ανάπτυξη ενός πιλοτικού μηχανισμού για τη σημασιολογική αναζήτηση του εκπαιδευτικού υλικού, που χρησιμοποιείται στην πρωτοβάθμια και τη δευτεροβάθμια εκπαίδευση στην Ελλάδα, μέσω των αναδυόμενων Web 3.0 υποδομών. Έχουμε επικεντρωθεί στο εκπαιδευτικό υλικό για τη διδασκαλία μαθημάτων Πληροφορικής, αλλά ο μηχανισμός θα μπορούσε εύκολα να προσαρμοστεί σε οποιοδήποτε τομέα κατόπιν συγκεκριμένων ρυθμίσεων. Μέρος της διαδικασίας ανάπτυξης είναι ο σχεδιασμός και η πρόταση ενός σχήματος μεταδεδομένων για μαθησιακά αντικείμενα της πρωτοβάθμιας και της δευτεροβάθμιας εκπαίδευσης στην Ελλάδα.

Abstract. SeeOER is an architecture for a specialized Open Educational Resources (OERs) Web search engine. The work was developed within the context of a master's degree project. The novel features of the proposed architecture will be introduced and compared to existing works. SeeOER uses intrinsic aspects of OER obtained from metadata. One of its distinticve features is the fact that the developed components take into account aspects of data provenance. This paper describes the scientific methodology, the developed architecture, standard metadata used, demonstrative seeds, related work and an analysis of the results.Resumo. SeeOERé uma arquitetura para um mecanismo de busca na Web especializado para Recursos Educacionais Abertos (REAs). O trabalho foi desenvolvido no contexto de um projeto de mestrado. As características inovadoras da arquitetura proposta são introduzidas e comparadas com trabalhos existentes. SeeOER utiliza aspectos intrínsecos dos REAs obtidos a partir de seus metadados. Uma de suas características distintas dessa arquiteturaé o fato de que os componentes desenvolvidos incorporam aspectos de procedência de dados. Este artigo descreve a metodologia científica utilizada, a arquitetura desenvolvida, os padrões de metadados utilizados, sementes demonstrativas, os trabalhos correlatos e uma análise dos resultados obtidos pelo SeeOER.
