The purpose of the study is to examine the music teacher candidates' awareness of music applications and software, their frequency of use and purpose of use in terms of gender and grade level variables. The study group consists of 452 students studying in department of music education in 6 universities in Turkey during the 2018-2019 academic year. In order to collect data, a two-part questionnaire developed by the researcher was used.According to the results of the research, it was seen that music teacher candidates who are aware of the existence of applications for music notation, applications containing instruments for music performance, applications for listening/watching music and applications for recording/mixing stage were quite high compared to those who were not aware. It was observed that the number of those who were not aware of the applications of instrument education, applications of choir/singing and applications of music theory and hearing education were higher than those who were aware. It was seen that the most commonly used applications were applications that include instruments for music performance and applications for listening/watching music. It was seen that applications for choir/singing, applications for instrument education, applications for music theory and hearing education, and applications for recording/mixing stage were rarely used.According to the results obtained from the research, applications for music theory and hearing education, applications for instrument education and applications that include instruments for music performance were mostly used for professional development. It was found that applications for writing notes were mostly used for homework. Applications for listening/watching music, recording / mixing stage and chorus/singing applications were mostly used for entertainment purposes.The results of the study showed that music teacher candidates were less familiar with applications and software especially for the performance aspect of music. According to the results, it can be said that music teacher candidates do not know music applications and software adequately.

An experiment aimed at developing creative thinking and emotional literacy in adolescents was carried out. The study involved 25 adolescents aged 14–16 years and their parents—37 people (37–45 years old). Based on the use of the NanoStudio application, a creative improvisation training session was conducted among adolescents in the context of educational cases. The methodology for the development of creative skill turned out to be interesting, exciting, and effective; collaboration with children, according to parents, created an atmosphere of community and promoted an active and passionate desire for joint creative actions. The results of the survey of adolescents demonstrated a positive attitude to the implementation of creative practices which was accompanied by interest, enthusiasm, joy, trust, admiration, delight, and optimism. Since adolescence is a period of increased emotionality, which is characterized by risky behavior associated with the formation of new views, values, and interests, the need of young people for psychological adaptation, the practical value of the study lies in demonstrating the practical experience of transforming the emotional experiences of adolescents into a creative musical product, as an alternative behavior, in terms of interaction of personal, parental, and pedagogical contexts.

This study examined the use of music software as a pedagogical tool for the delivery of specific content in a music education course offered to Certificate and Bachelor of Education Program students at a Caribbean university. The existing course uses a traditional approach, and thus, the study is significant as the results would propel a shift toward transformational teaching. Twenty-four university students were chosen for the study which adopted a mixed methods approach. Over one semester, participants used a free, open-source music software program to learn simple time signatures. Students produced an assignment as well as completed a questionnaire. Ninety percent of students were able to compose eight bars of music according to a simple time signature using the software. Most participants intimated they felt comfortable and motivated using the software, they understood concepts taught, and they suggested its continued use. The majority of participants also stated that they required more training. Some participants even said that they would adopt this methodology on their teaching practicum. Based on the results, recommendations include the adoption of this and other technological teaching tools within the music program, a teaching practicum assessment, and a progressive training component for both students and staff.
