The use of nanoadditives in polyvinylchloride compositions in construction

Abstract: ExtEndEd AbstrAct:One of the most common polymers is polyvinylchloride (PVC), which is on the third place after polyethylene and polypropylene in the world in overall production. High demand for PVC is caused by the possibility of its modification and production of wide range of materials and articles with improved properties as well as by cost-advantageous price -performance ratio, availability of raw materials, saving natural resources. Along with many advantages PVC has a serious drawback: abnormally low st… Show more

“…In previous studies, the preparation of adipic acid esters by esterification using homogeneous catalysis was described, and their physicochemical properties for plasticization of polyvinyl chloride were studied [ 9 , 14 , 15 , 48 ]. This article discusses a method for the synthesis of a new ester compound of butoxyethyl phenoxyethyl adipate (BEPEA) using a heterogeneous zinc oxide catalyst.…”

“…The main way to obtain adipic acid esters is esterification [14,15]. The catalysis of this process is carried out using homogeneous catalysts, for example, mineral acids (H 2 SO 4 , HF, H 3 PO 4 ), organic sulfonic acids (paratoluene sulfonic acid, benzenesulfonic acid), or using heterogeneous catalysts (metal oxides and hydroxides, salts, zeolites, clays).…”

“…On its basis receive as rigid materials (viniplast) used in construction, an electrical engineering, agriculture; and the soft elastic plastic compounds are structural finishing materials (a linoleum, wall-paper, a tape), materials for cables, isolation, laying, tapes, a decorative oilcloth, etc. The uniqueness of PVC consists that depending on a way of receiving, a compounding and technology of processing this polymer gives a good selection of the materials and products which are characterized by various physicomechanical and operational properties: high resistance to ignition and reagent resistance; low water absorption; ability to modifying by introduction of various additives [1][2][3][4].…”

“…The main lack of polyvinylchloride is its low thermal stability therefore one of the main components of PVC composition is the heat stabiliser. Use it allows to process PVC at a temperature above 140 °C at which the destruction of pure polymer begins [1,4,9,15].…”
