The present research examined the use of Web 2.0 tools to improve students' vocabulary knowledge at the School of Foreign Languages, Gaziantep University. Current studies in literature mostly deal with descriptions of students' attitudes towards the reasons for the use of web-based platforms. However, integrating usual classroom environment with Web 2.0 tools for specific sub-skills has not been examined much. It is aimed to contribute by investigating the feasibility of those tools as a supplement for vocabulary learning. This is an experimental research supported with semi-structured interviews and field notes. A pre-test and a post-test were administered to an experimental and a control group, and results were analyzed with the independent samples t-test. Following the post-test, semistructured interviews were conducted with 18 students in the experimental group. The analyses of the test results demonstrated that both groups had gains but the mean of the experimental group was higher, and this difference was statistically significant. Findings suggest that almost all students have positive attitudes towards the educational use of Web 2.0 tools.

The formation of human capital is key to countries’ social, cultural and economic development. The current literature pays considerable attention to the ever-increasing proliferation of technology in the careers of college and graduate school. While the presence of educational technology in higher education offers multiple benefits, its implementation also presents challenges. The literature has considered multiple tools for improving learning processes. The results of such tools vary and are difficult to measure in terms of quality. In this document, we analyze the issues surrounding educational technology in higher education.

Bu araştırmanın amacı; öğretim teknolojileri alanında 2004-2013 yılları arasında web 2.0 uygulamaları kullanılarak yapılan akademik çalışmaların hangi öğrenme teorileri üzerine inşa edildiğini belirlemektir. Belirlenen anahtar kelimelerle Science Direct veri tabanında tarama yapılmış ve ulaşılabilen 103 makale doküman analizi yöntemiyle analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma sonuçlarına göre; web 2.0 uygulamalarından en fazla "sosyal ağ uygulamaları", öğrenme teorilerinden ise en fazla "yapılandırmacı, sosyal ve durumsal öğrenme teorileri" üzerine akademik çalışmaların olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Web 2.0 uygulamalarının öğrenme teorisi üzerine inşa edilerek kullanıldığı akademik çalışmaların 2008 yılı itibariyle başladığı ve en fazla çalışmanın 2013 yılında yapıldığı belirlenmiştir. Bu çalışma ile web 2.0 uygulamalarını öğrenme ortamlarında kullanmak isteyenler; çalışma kapsamına ve hedeflerine uygun olabilecek öğrenme teorilerine yönelik perspektif geliştirebilirler.
