The Validity and Reliability of the Perceived Available Support Scale

Abstract: ABSTRACT. Many scales have been developed to measure social support which is an important area of research. The purpose of this study is to determine the validity and reliability of Perceived Available Support Scale (PASS) which was developed by Schulz and Schwarzer (2003). The Turkish version of PASS was administered to 425 college students in two different studies. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) for the scale reached an adequate conformity value. As a result, the scale's factor structure with two subscal… Show more

“…In this study, the Cronbach alpha coefficient for the PWBS was .85. The Unconditional Self-Acceptance Scale (UCSAS) was developed by Kapıkıran and Kapıkıran (2010) and consists of 19 items. The UCSAS has a two-factor structure and scored with a seven-point Likert scale.…”

“…Academic resilience can be described as a unidimensional latent construct. The ARS_SCV in the study supported the factor structure in the original English version (Martin and Marsh, 2006) and other language versions, i.e., the Turkish version (Kapikiran, 2012) and the Spanish version (Meneghel et al, 2019). ARS_SCV is a brief attitudinal scale that measures how well students respond to academic adversities, such as poor grades in schoolwork.…”

“…The BSSS measures the level of tangible (material, physical or mental) support that the respondents anticipate will be available to them, should they require it (Schwarzer & Leppin, 1988). Previously, the subscale has shown a Cronbach's alpha of 0.83 (Kapikiran & Kapikiran, 2010;Schulz & Schwarzer, 2003); for this study the Cronbach's alpha value was 0.79. Sum means were not published.…”
